“Star Wars is a kids movie not for kids.” -JJ Abrams on the vision of George Lucas.
From Gen X on, every generation has had a Star Wars story they’ve claimed as their own. When The Phantom Menace arrived, I loved it but did not LOVE it like I had the original trilogy. However, Millennials (and Gen Z thanks to The Clone Wars) passionately claimed Episode I (and II and III) as theirs.
Indeed, the love Millennials and Gen Z have for the first trilogy of the Star Wars saga eventually caught up with me (thanks for your patience, Hayden Christensen), and I now see these wonderful movies in a new light.
I’ll joyfully see Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace with my Gen X, Millennial, and Gen Z family when it returns to theaters in May. I’ll probably even crack a smile when JarJar shows up, just as George knew I eventually would.

Feverently hoping that Elon Musk is not in charge of writing this generation’s Star Wars story…
